My passion for products came when I started my hairdressing career when I was 16 years old. The first brand I used was Kérastase and I trained to be a qualified consultant. It blew me away! The fact that you had to be trained to sell and prescribe hair products got me hooked. Then, throughout my career and using different brands, I always went to the next level of finding out exactly how they worked, what ingredients were in them, and how they would help transform my clients' hair.

My northern spirit comes in to play when I give my advice to people. I only sell and use products I believe in and I test this by using them on my clients' different hair types to see how they work. I have always been so passionate about recommending clients to use the right hair care, as I feel for some reason hair products have not been at the top of peoples priorities when it comes to self care. This blows my mind when they are spending their hard earned money in the salon getting it cut and coloured. 

You really do get what you pay for!

Cheap products strip colours and toners, do not treat the hair correctly and can leave layers of unwanted non-soluble silicones on the hair, which can burn instead of protect. This then puts people off or they say they don’t like the product as their hair feels heavy or greasy.

Being an independent business, I couldn’t take on all of the brands available, so have hand-picked my favourites that I use in the salon (and on myself) and get amazing results with every day. 

Olaplex

 

Anyone who knows me will know that I live and breath Olaplex. When this brand came out, it seemed too good to be true to the whole hairdressing industry. This product could change the way that we do our job forever and transform peoples hair. 

AND IT BLOODY WELL DID!!!!!

Olaplex started in a garage in California and has grown to have millions of fans worldwide. Without going in to the science too much, Olaplex is the first hair product that works on the hairs cortex - the middle layer of the hair - meaning that it goes in to the cortex and fixes it back together to make it stronger. Most other products work on the cuticle on the outer layer of the hair.

Obviously, it gets far more tech-y than this, but essentially, Olaplex gets deeper into your hair and fixes broken bonds.

Any hair type can use Olaplex but I especially recommend it for fine, weak or over-processed hair. The biggest problem I come across when people describe their hair problems is that no matter how many treatments they put on it, it is still dry. The answer to this frustration is, when the hair is weak, it will not accept the moisture of the products. Basically think of it as a sieve, the product will simply fall through the cracks. Olaplex builds up the hairs strength from the inside which then, once this is done, will encourage it to start accepting moisture.

Olaplex has completely transformed my hair and hundreds of people that I have recommended it to. The whole family of Olaplex products have grown so much over the years which is fantastic.
